Requirements to vote or be a candidate

To vote or run in the election, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older on general voting day

  • Be a Canadian citizen

  • Have lived in BC for at least 6 months immediately before election day or the day nomination papers are filed

  • Voters must be a resident of the Village of Queen Charlotte for at least 30 days immediately before voting (not applicable to candidates)

  • Not be disqualified by law from voting, or from being nominated, elected, or holding office

You may also be eligible to vote as a Non-resident property elector if you:

  • Are eligible to vote as a resident elector in another municipality; and
  • Own property in the Village of Queen Charlotte for 30 days or more before you register to vote.
